Career Profile
Rachel Jacobson is a familiar face at the National Basketball Association, where her career spans 16 years, five departments, and three sports properties. Currently Senior Vice President of Business Development, she is responsible for the strategic management and sponsorship sales of the NBA and WNBA, including new business development, marquee events, community relations, and grassroots programming. She has played a key role in forging partnerships with many Fortune 500 companies for the NBA, WNBA and USA Basketball.

Prior to joining the Business Development Department, Jacobson worked in Marketing Partnerships, overseeing multimillion-dollar sponsorships for USA Basketball, coordinating grassroots tours and special events – including NBA All-Star and NBA Draft – and managing accounts across all properties. She was soon creating different revenue-generating opportunities and securing new corporate alliances through multi-channel activation platforms, most notably the T-Mobile partnership. She also worked in the league’s Global Merchandising Group, where she pursued opportunities for sponsors, retail partners, and licensees to work with the NBA and WNBA on league promotions. Jacobson launched her NBA career as part of the then-newly adopted management training program.

As a rising star in the sports industry SportsBusiness Journal named Jacobson to its 2010 Forty Under 40 list. She is a charter member of the W.O.M.E.N. Mentoring Program, where she helps other professional women advance their careers through leadership training. With a bachelor’s degree from the Cornell School of Hotel & Business Management, Jacobson is also an active member of the Cornell Dean’s Alumni Council and the President’s Council of Cornell Women.

She shares ties to her alma mater with her husband, with whom she has toddler boy and girl twins. Jacobson and her family live in Manhattan.
